(2023-06-13/14) Motorcyclists have to give way to thunderstorms and rain fronts, so I spent another day in the former Jewish Quarter of Bucharest. Right next to the Great Synagogue, once again surrounded by communist apartment blocks, new Jewish life is emerging. The Ronald S. Lauder Foundation of the cosmetics company heir and former U.S. Ambassador to Austria has invested in education in an impressive way. On the one hand, the photos document the unstoppable decay of the building fabric, on the other hand they do not lack - in my opinion - a morbid charm, but decide for yourself!

Very impressive photos. I specially like the "king Michai's" car.
Gorgeous, as always. Love the car, as the other visitor noted!
Enjoying the photos! Keep them coming.
I love the shapes of the old buildings, many of which "fit" the site they are located on. As you point out, Edgar, the old has its own special appeal, even as they seem to be swallowed up by all the new building. One can only hope it isn't all totally erased . . .
Thanks for sharing,
Leah
