Together with Andy Warhol to Košice (2,057 km)

(2023-05-28/29) Sixth stage of my journey and at the same time second day of the mountain course through the Western Carpathians, a picture-book route for motorcyclists. Shortly before the Polish-Slovakian border, Pentecost Sunday is celebrated in a mountain chapel. What catches my eye out immediately after crossing the border? The mountain road leading into the valley has its own name, it‘s called Andy Warhol...? The town signs are in three languages, two of them with Cyrillic letters...? The bus stop in front of the strange concrete building is also called Andy Warhol...? Questions upon questions that can only be answered with food, drink and the Internet on Košice's magnificent main boulevard. Voilà! Andy Warhol's parents came from the village of Miková near Medzilaborce, a town in the far northeast of Slovakia. They spoke Russian, one of the various languages spoken in Transcarpathia. Not only Pittsburgh in the USA can boast of an Andy Warhol museum, but also Medzilaborce. The bus stop is still in operation, the museum behind it unfortunately not: "The Museum of Modern Art in Medzilaborce is CLOSED from March 27, 2023 for a long time, for the reasons of a complex reconstruction." Andy Warhol accompanies us on to Košice, where he has made himself comfortable on the canopy of the Hotel Múza [Muse].

And where is Judaism? I was already in Košice last year. Check out my post:
